Windows 10 enjoying strong adoption rate, now on more than 75 million devices

Windows 10 is Microsoft's latest OS and it is enjoying a strong and encouraging rate of adoption.

According to figures from Microsoft, Windows 10 was installed on over 14 million devices within the first 24 hours of its launch on July 29.

And now, just about a month after, Microsoft's Corporate VP of Windows and Devices Group, Yusuf Mehdi, just tweeted that Windows 10 is on over 75 million devices.

And just to confirm, this number does not include copies that were sold to PC manufacturers and resellers. It refers to activated copies of Windows 10, which is seriously impressive, considering how negatively Windows 8 was received.

While these numbers are encouraging, Microsoft hopes to see Windows 10 installed on a billion devices by the summer of 2018. That's a tall order, but it's been a good start.

If you are thinking of getting your hands on Windows 10, the good news is that Windows 10 is free for qualified Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 devices. The catch is that this upgrade offer is available for only one year from the time Windows 10 is available.
