Will Apple remove headphone jacks on upcoming iPad Pro models to make them smaller?
According to Mac Otakara, Apple will remove the headphone jacks on the upcoming iPad Pro models to make them smaller.
The iPhone hasn't had a headphone jack since the iPhone 7 so this move won't be too alarming at all.
Furthermore, Apple already has a rather excellent lineup of wireless headphones equipped with the company's own W1 wireless chip.
Additionally, based on their supply chain sources, the upcoming 10.5-inch and 12.9 inch iPad Pro tablets will be significantly more compact, which ties in with earlier rumors that the iPad Pro will be getting a major redesign.
These are the dimensions of the upcoming iPad Pro as claimed by Mac Otakara:
|Old dimensions||New dimensions|
|10.5-inch iPad Pro||250.6 x 174.1 x 6.1mm||247.5 x 178.7 x 6mm|
|12.9-inch iPad Pro||305.7 x 220.6 x 6.9mm||280 x 215 x 6.4mm|
As you can see, the new iPad Pros could be significantly more compact. Apple will likely shave down the bezels and remove the Home button, just like what they did with the iPhone X.
The new iPad Pro tablets are also rumored to be equipped for a TrueDepth camera system for Face ID.
Apple could announce the new iPad Pro tablets alongside the new iPhones later this year.
