Wi-Fi 6E could be coming to the Apple iPhone 13

Wi-Fi 6E could be coming to the Apple iPhone 13

The Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max and iPhone 12 mini.

The Apple iPhone 13 may offer better Wi-Fi performance according to Barclay analysts.

Based on information from several Apple suppliers, analysts Blayne Curtis, Thomas O'Malley, Tim Long and other colleagues claim that the iPhone 13 models will support Wi-Fi 6E. Cisco executive Jayanthi Srinivasan states that Wi-Fi 6E is expected to be a game changer due to the availability of additional channels and the ability to use 160Mhz for high-bandwidth applications such as AR and VR.

Qualcomm announced its first Wi-Fi 6E chips earlier this year, but did not reveal when devices sporting these chips will appear in the market. However, the company believes it will be "a very fast transition".

The Barclay analysts added that audio chipmaker Cirrus Logic will be supplying a new power conversion chip for some iPhone 13 models. They also said that Apple has no plans to refresh the iPhone SE in the near future.

While they have heard reports of a larger iPhone SE model, the device was not mentioned by any of the Apple suppliers. Rumours of a bigger iPhone SE model surfaced in March when iOS 14 codes reveal a bigger iPhone SE Plus in the pipeline. It was said to be delayed multiple times and analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says it is expected to launch in the second half of 2021.

Other rumours about the iPhone 13 include a notch-less design with USB-C port, 120Hz ProMotion displays, support for mmWave and sub-6GHz, bigger sensor sizes, and major upgrades to the ultra-wide camera
