WhatsApp now allows you to decide who can add you to group chats

WhatsApp is rolling out a new privacy setting so that users have more control over the group messages they receive.

The new privacy setting and invite system allows you to choose whether anyone, your contacts or nobody can add you to group chats. If you choose "Nobody", you have to approve joining every group chat to which you're invited. Likewise, "My Contacts" allows contacts in your address book to add you to chat groups.

For both cases, the person inviting you to the group chat will be prompted to send a private invite through an individual chat. You have three days to accept the invite before it expires.

The new privacy setting and invite system is rolling out to some users starting today, and will be available worldwide in the coming weeks on the latest version of WhatsApp.
