Meta just announced a redesigned WhatsApp app for macOS users.

Besides conventional WhatsApp messaging, the new WhatsApp for Mac allows users to make group calls. It can support up to 8 people per video call and up to 32 people on audio calls.

In addition, you can join a group call after it's started, see the call history and opt to receive incoming call notifications even when the app is closed.

Mac users can also share files by dragging and dropping them into the chat window, and viewing more of the chat history. Like the mobile app, WhatsApp for macOS offers end-to-end encryption for messages and calls across devices.

The new WhatsApp app for Mac is now available to download from WhatsApp.com and will be available soon on the Mac App Store. It requires macOS 11 or newer to run.
