WhatsApp just announced it will be bringing digital payments to users in Brazil.

With Payments on WhatsApp, users can send money securely or make purchases from local businesses in Brazil without leaving the instant messaging app. To prevent unauthorised transactions, digital payments through WhatsApp have to be authenticated with a special six-digit PIN or fingerprint verification.

While sending money or making a purchase on WhatsApp is free for users, businesses have to pay a processing fee to receive customer payments.

Starting today, Payments on WhatsApp will be rolled out gradually to people across Brazil. WhatsApp shared that it has plans to bring it to everyone in the near future.
