WhatsApp introduces new features for Status Updates
WhatsApp just announced new features for Status Updates.
WhatsApp users now have the option to choose who view their status updates. The Private Audience Selector will save your most recent audience selection and use it as the default for the next status update.
WhatsApp Status can support voice messages of up to 30 seconds, for users who are more comfortable talking rather than typing.
Based on users' feedback, WhatsApp now allows users to react to Status Updates. It was said to be the top requested feature. To react, simply swipe up and tap on one of the 8 emojis. You can also react with a text, voice message, stickers and more.
Status Updates have profile rings, which ensures users do not miss a status update from their family and friends. The Status profile ring will be visible in the chat list, group participant list, and contact info.
Link previews are available on Status Updates where a visual preview of the link content will appear. Visual previews make your Status Updates more aesthetically pleasing and provide your contacts a better idea of what the link is about before they click.
These five new features for Status Updates have started rolling out to users around the world. They should be available to all users in the coming weeks.
