WD unveils new My Cloud Home and My Cloud Home Duo personal cloud storage drives
WD’s new My Cloud Home and My Cloud Home Duo are the company’s latest personal cloud storage devices.
These new personal cloud storage devices are designed to be easy to use. Like most networking devices today, the setup can be done using a mobile app, in this case, the My Cloud Home mobile app. Alternatively, users can also do it online at MyCloud.com/hello.
So once you have it up and running what can you do with it?
For a start, it enables wireless backups of just about any device you can think of. WD provides apps for your iOS and Android devices as well as your PCs and Macs, and it is through these apps that users can configure automatic wireless backups.
It also enables remote access to your data on the drive. Users can access their My Cloud Home drive from anywhere in the world as long as they have a working Internet connection using one of these three methods: the My Cloud Home mobile app, the My Cloud Home desktop app, or via the MyCloud.com web interface.
The My Cloud Home drives can also work with other cloud storage devices like Google Drive, OneDrive, and Dropbox. My Cloud Home will automatically download your data from these cloud storage accounts so that you can have a personal copy.
Additionally, it works with other apps like Plex so that your videos stay organized and you can stream them from the Plex Web app. Or if you have a Plex Pro account, you can use Plex on your device to access your videos remotely.
The WD My Cloud Home comes in 2TB, 3TB, 4TB, 6TB, and 8TB capacities.
For users who want more storage or greater security, they can opt for the My Cloud Home Duo. These come with two drives and can be configured in either RAID 0 or RAID 1, depending on your needs. The My Cloud Home Duo comes in 4TB, 6TB, 8TB, 12TB, 16TB, and 20TB capacities.
