Watch your home speakers work in style with Swede-designed Transparent Speakers

Swedish 'circular tech' company Transparent launched the Transparent Speaker and Small Transparent Speaker to appeal to audio lovers and people who hate throwing away entire gadgets when upgrading to newer and better stuff.

Transparent Speaker (front).

Made from a single aluminium frame and encased in six-sided tempered glass, the Transparent Speaker features two 3-inch full-range tweeters and one 6.5-inch woofer with a total 140W output, backed by a DSP (digital signal processor) and front-facing knob-styled control panel.

Transparent Speaker (back).

It connects to a host of wireless pairing options, like Apple AirPlay, Sonos, Amazon Echo, and Google Cast, with the option for Bluetooth streaming. Wired Line In options include its front and back 3.5mm ports. Perhaps what's most attractive is its namesake's appearance, where you get a set of home speakers with highly-visible internals, easily blending in with most home furnishings. The housing on the rear is an upgradeable module where users can opt to install multi-room, third-party Wi-Fi, and voice control capabilities.

Small Transparent Speaker (black).

The Small Transparent Speaker is much more simplified with only two 3-inch full-range drivers with a total 30W output and no built-in knob controls. Connectivity and functionality are very much identical to the bigger version, even if it's nearly three times smaller.

According to the Swedish founders, Transparent isn't just a company that specialises in fancy naked electronics. A big part of its products is designed for the circular economy, where consumer-facing companies consciously create products that are less wasteful, or capable of being easily remade into newer stuff. Hence, the Transparent Speakers are modular, and replacements wouldn't require ditching the whole system into the trash.

The Transparent Speaker and Small Transparent Speaker (in White or Black) are available now at local boutique antė at S$1,699 and S$899 respectively. They can also be found at Level 3, Men's Department of Takashimaya Department Store and Grafunkt.
