A Porsche Cayenne S Diesel has just towed a 285 tonne Airbus A380. And in the process, also set a new Guinness World Record for heaviest aircraft towed by a production vehicle.

The Cayenne used was completely stock with no modifications. In stock form, its 4.2-liter V8 produces 380hp and a staggering 850nm of torque. The team at Porsche was confident that with this much power on tap, and with the Cayenne's clever electronics, the car would have enough grunt to tow the Airbus A380.

By completing this feat, the Cayenne S Diesel broke the previous world record by an incredible 115 tonnes. The previous record holder was the Nissan Patrol, which towed a 170 tonne Russian Ilyushin II-76 cargo plane.

Even more amazing is that the Cayenne S Diesel was driven down to Charles de Gaulle airport all the way from London for the attempt. And afterward, it was driven back with no reported issues.

If you ever need to tow heavy stuff, you know which car is right for the job.
