Wacom has released the Cintiq Pro 16, an addition to their flagship Cintiq Pro line of creative pen displays, and a refresh of their previous Cintiq Pro 16 released in 2017.

The new Pro 16 features a 15.6-inch IPS display with 4K resolution (3840 x 2160 pixels). The screen features optical bonding which is supposed to reduce parallax error, enabling more precise inputs.

The Cintiq Pro 16 and comes with the Wacom Pro Pen 2, which has also joined past Wacom releases like the Intuos Pro. The Wacom Pro Pen 2 was designed to replicate the feel of an actual pen on paper.

The Pro 16 has also been re-designed with ergonomics in mind; the tablet now features eight customisable ExpressKeys, with four on each side of the display's rear edge, so that it's easily accessible just by resting your hand on the side. The slimmer form factor also allows users to pack them into a backpack or laptop bag.

Importantly, the ability to use multi-touch and the pen at the same time is still here, including all the functionality that comes with that, such as pinch, zoom and rotate. For those who would prefer to have this feature disabled, a handy switch on the top of the display disables multi-touch input, enabling you to focus on input through only the pen.

Finally, the Cintiq Pro 16 features HDMI, USB-A and USB-C connectivity options, with the latter supporting the DisplayPort Alternate Mode. Both HDMI and USB-C ports support a maximum video resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels at 60Hz.

As for what comes with the Pro 16 and Pro Pen 2 in the box, you get a pen nib removal tool, the pen stand with 10 included nibs, six standard and four felt, as well as a pen holder with three standard pen nibs, totalling 13 nibs. The Pro 16 also comes with a slew of cables to enable connectivity, including a USB-C to USB-C cable, a USB-C to USB-A cable, and an HDMI cable, all of which are made without PVC, as well as a cleaning cloth. The Cintiq Pro 16 supports Windows 7 and up, and macOS 10.14 or later.

Optional accessories include the ExpressKey Remote, a remote that expands customisability through a touch ring and 17 more customisable buttons, the Wacom Adjustable Stand which attaches to the Pro 16's VESA Mount, Wacom's Color Manager, which calibrates your display's colour profile, and additional pens, including the Pro Pen Slim and Pro Pen 3D, along with a host of other classic Wacom pens. A replacement Pro Pen 2 is also available as an optional accessory.

Availability and pricing

The Wacom Cintiq Pro 16 is available on Wacom's website now, and being a Wacom product, comes in at a hefty S$2,099. If you can't justify this price tag, you might want to look at the cheaper Cintiq 22, also available on Wacom's website, which brings the price tag down to S$1,499, at the cost of a lower resolution display.
