Volkswagen reportedly in talks with Huawei to use HarmonyOS for cars in China
Future Volkswagen cars sold in China might be powered by Huawei's HarmonyOS.
Sources told Financial Times that Volkswagen is currently in talks with Huawei to use the latter's HarmonyOS for its electric vehicles sold in China. One source added that Volkswagen is looking for a long-term partner in China and has not limited its options, but Huawei is likely on top of the list.
Huawei announced HarmonyOS in August 2019 and describes its an open-source platform that can run on phones, tablets, wearables, computers, wireless earphones and cars. Check out this article on HarmonyOS where we sat down with James Lu, a senior manager for EMIUI Product Marketing and previous Head of AI Product Management at Huawei to talk about the platform.
