Vivo X Flip clamshell foldable phone appears in Google Play’s list of supported devices
Vivo’s clamshell phone with a foldable display was mentioned in whispers for the longest time, but it did not launch with the book-style foldable Vivo X Fold back in mid-2022. That’s about to change, especially if the Google Play Store has anything to say about it.
The Vivo X Flip handset was recently spotted in the certification list of Google Play Supported Devices by MySmartPrice. It signals a potential launch in China very soon, where the Vivo X Fold already made its rounds last year. It’s unclear whether either foldable will make it beyond the Chinese market.
Previously, the Vivo X Flip (going by its V2256A model number) also appeared in Geekbench 5 and Geekbench 6 benchmarking platforms. The listing hinted (via its motherboard’s “taro” codename) that the phone possibly uses Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 (or 8+ Gen 1) for its flagship-class performance, clocked at 3.0GHz. It also shows 12GB RAM installed on the device.
Will Vivo bring the Vivo X Flip to compete against Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 5G and Oppo Find N2 Flip in Singapore? It’s still too early to say, but we hope they do.
