While we may be looking at the end of Work from Home (WFH) in Singapore, video conferencing has seen its adoption rise significantly over the period and it looks like this form of collaborative work is here to stay.

ViewSonic has joined the ranks of other vendors who have jumped on the WFH bandwagon and released monitors that are video conferencing enabled with built-in cameras and mics. Some are even Microsoft Teams or Zoom certified.

The ViewSonic VG2440V is a 24-inch FHD video conferencing monitor designed to deliver out-of-the-box video conferencing and live streaming capabilities for Work from Home staff.

It has a built-in FHD webcam that can be adjusted to better frame the user during video conference calls and create engaging content through varied camera angle. For better privacy and security, it has a cover slide to cover the camera.

In terms of connectivity, it offers the following:-

  • 1 x VGA port
  • 1 x HDMI 1.4
  • 1 x DisplayPort
  • 3 x USB 3.2 Type A Down Stream (Monitor to peripherals)
  • 1 x USB 3.2 Type B Up Stream (Monitor to PC)

We asked ViewSonic about the lack of USB Type C (Thunderbolt certified) connections and they replied that as the VG2440V Video conferencing monitor is considered an entry-level model for this series, adding it on would see the cost of the monitor increase. So I suppose we can expect to see it on subsequent, more premium models.

The ViewSonic VG2440V also has a number of features designed to make video conferencing easier for those who will be using the monitor for a prolonged period of time:

  • Ergonomic flexibility allows the VG2440V to tilt up to 40 degrees, swivel up to 120 degrees, be raised up to a 130mm viewing angle, and pivot 90 degrees for portrait viewing.
  • Advance Eye-Care technology is built in to eliminate eye strain and fatigue after long periods thanks to Flicker-Free technology and a Blue Light Filter.
  • SuperClear IPS panel technology delivers the same image quality from above, below, the front, and sides with accurate and vivid colours and consistent brightness from any angle. It offers a standard brightness output of 250 nits and has a 1000:1 contrast ratio (without dynamic boost).
  • ViewSonic’s vDisplay Manager provides efficient and effective OSD commands. Users can have split-screen displays, auto-launch applications, and customise display settings to maximise multi-tasking abilities.
