Viddy, "Instagram for Videos" App, Now Available on Android

The Android space seems to be getting quite a lot of love these days - once known as a barren land for mobile photographers and videographers, it is heartening to see previously iOS-only apps, like Instagram and more recently, photo editing app Snapseed, make their way onto the other platform. Viddy has taken a similar cue as well and has launched an Android version of its app today. Somewhat likened to "the Instagram for video capturing", the app allows users to apply 10 different filters as well as add songs to their 15-sec recorded clips before sharing them with other Viddy users as well as on different social networks. Viddy has seen a small following on iOS so far, but with the large amount of support available across Android platforms and devices, the app might see a huge growth in its community.

The Verge - "The app is promising support for an insane number of Android devices — 757 smartphones and tablets in 16 countries, to be precise — but Viddy somehow seems to have missed some notable phones despite that large number. Those with high-end smartphones needn't worry, as the app runs without any issues on the Samsung Galaxy S III and Galaxy Note II, but it’s not available for devices like the Motorola Droid RAZR or Sony Xperia P."

With Google integration across the OS (hint: major video sharing channel, YouTube), Viddy might very well take off much better on Android than on iOS. The app is available for free here.
