Thanks to the availability of affordable flash memory, we are seeing a deluge of portable external SSDs. The latest to arrive on our shores in the Verbatim VX560.

Like most drives of its class, the new VX560 is compact and light. Its aluminum chassis measures just 42.7mm in width and 65mm in height, and it's just 11mm thick. As for weight, you are looking at just 66.7g.

What this means in the real world is that it'll easily fit in the palm of your hands, in your pockets, and any bag.

The VX560 uses a USB-C connector but to ensure compatibility with a wide range of devices, it comes with a USB-C to USB-A cable.

Claimed data transfer rates are up to 550MB/s read and 500MB/s write.

The Verbatim VX560 is available in 512GB and 1TB for now, and it's priced at S$149 and S$269 respectively. A smaller 256GB version will be available at a later date.

It's available at selected Challenger outlets and you can keep a lookout for it on the official Verbatim store on Lazada and Shopee.
