Verbatim's Store 'n' Go Secure Portable HDD has a built-in keypad for password protection
If you have to carry sensitive data around all the time, you'll want to check out Verbatim's new Store 'n' Go Secure Portable HDD.
It is a portable external HDD with a built-in keypad for password protection. Once set up, users will have to enter the correct password on the built-in keypad to be able to access data within.
According to Verbatim, this method of password protection is more secure than software-based password protection systems.
The Store 'n' Go Secure Portable HDD employs 256-bit AES hardware encryption to keep your data safe and users can designate a passcode that is up to 12 digits long.
In addition, the drive will be locked down after 20 failed password attempts. Thereafter, data within can no longer be accessed. But the drive can still be re-used after a reformat.
Since the password protection happens entirely on the drive itself, the Store 'n' Go Secure Portable HDD is compatible with both Windows and Mac systems.
The Store 'n' Go Secure Portable HDD supports USB 3.1 Gen 1 speeds (5Gbps) over a Type-C connection. And since USB-C isn't commonplace yet, Verbatim has thoughtfully included a USB-C to USB-A adapter to ensure compatibility with older devices without a USB-C port.
Also included is Nero Backup software to make it easy for owners to schedule backups.
The Verbatim Store 'n' Go Secure Portable HDD is available only with 2TB capacity and it is priced at S$169.
