The U.S government is banning approvals of new telecommunications equipment sales from five Chinese firms.
According to Reuters, the U.S Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is restricting the sale or import of equipment from Huawei, ZTE, Dahua Technology, Hangzhou Hikvision Digital Technology, and Hytera Communications.
FCC Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel revealed that the latest crackdown is part of the agency's ongoing efforts "to protect the American people from national security threats involving telecommunications."
