We're not going into the ethical debate on whether Gizmodo was in the right or wrong for paying for the prototype iPhone, but the fact that they paid US$10,000 US$5000 means a great deal of money for the "lucky" finder. It also seems that Engadget may have passed on paying that amount. It also seems like it may be worth Gizmodo's cash, as they have secured more than 2.5 million page views on the feature alone. Whether they will be blacklisted from future Apple events though seems to be a likely outcome, given Apple's huge penchant for secrecy.
