Update your TerraMaster NAS to TOS 5 to enjoy better system security like WORM support

TerraMaster has released TOS 5, their latest operating system for their storage devices that comes with more than 100 new functions for performance improvements and tighter security for data storage.

For example, TOS 5 now features Single Portal Folder Level Back up a simplified and unified backup solution where all backup options are now in a single portal.

TerraSync realises data synchronization between multiple users and multiple devices. It is intended to create efficient data sharing so collaborative work is easier and faster.

CloudSync integrates multiple cloud drives and syncs them into one application. Supported cloud services include Google Drive, One Drive, Amazon S3, Backblaze, Box, Dropbox, Koofr, OpenDrive, pCloud, Yandex disk, and Aliyun.

TerraMaster RAID (TRAID) optimises traditional RAID providing flexible disk array configuration, flexible online migration, capacity expansion, and redundancy policies. TRAID also improves disk space utilization and provides solutions and security protection for storage space changes caused by new business requirements.

If you backup surveillance footage, Surveillance Manager enables a TNAS storage to recognise, real-time monitoring, video storage, playback, query, event and activity monitoring, and recording so you have the tools for economical and flexible video monitoring management.

Some of the new feature functions for higher data protection include WORM file system support, Security Isolation Mode, and OTP Authorization.

  • WORM File System Support: WORM stands for Write Once Read Many which means that the information, once written, cannot be modified. This write protection affords the assurance that the data cannot be tampered with once it is written to the device.
  • System Isolation Mode: System Isolation Mode can be a very effective tool against sudden virus and ransomware attacks. Storage devices running on TOS 5 can completely isolate themselves from the external network through network isolation, digital signature, and file format restriction.
  • OTP Authorization: With TOS 5, users can activate One-Time Password (OTP) Authorization to add another layer of security to their NAS. The OTP is randomly generated via the TNAS Mobile App is used for login verification.
