The global chip shortage is affecting Samsung's phone production more than it has expected.

According to Korean site FNN News, an anonymous source claims that Samsung is only considering to launch the Galaxy S21 FE in the U.S and Europe. The source added that the Galaxy S21 FE will not even be released in Korea or Japan.

The source reiterated that production of the Galaxy S21 FE was "considered to be stopped" due to the chip shortage. Another source says the severe shortage of components is affecting the launch of the Galaxy S21 FE, which is said to be delayed to Q4.

Samsung confirmed in March that there is a "serious imbalance" in semiconductors and it is considering to skip the 2021 Galaxy Note. Qualcomm is struggling to meet demand for its processors and this has reportedly affected production of Samsung's mid and low-end models. Will the chip shortage affect the availability of Samsung's next-generation foldable phones
