Seriously, I can’t remember off hand what was the last flagship Windows Phone Nokia/Microsoft released. But word has it that two high-end handsets are more or less finalized, hardware-wise, for a while now, and are only waiting for the arrival of Windows 10 Mobile (Windows 10 for PCs is coming first, by the way).

Over at Windows Central, Daniel Rubino has just laid out all he knows to date about the new devices, and if you’re looking for the most credible source among all the bits and pieces of rumors, his is the one to check out.

Fast SoCs and high-res screens aside, Rubino has further revealed that both flagships (Lumia 950, codenamed Talkman; Lumia 950 XL, codenamed Cityman) will come with an iris scanner to support Windows 10’s Windows Hello biometric authentication feature for unlocking the phones. The 950 XL will also optionally have a Surface Pen and smart cover. There is also a new optional ‘Munchkin’ accessory, which is a docking station that supports the new Continuum for phones feature in Windows 10 Mobile.

Both the Lumia 950 and 950 XL (the names aren’t cast in stone yet) are expected to be unveiled around the September time frame. As Microsoft will be at IFA in Berlin in early September, we won’t be surprised if that’s where we’ll see the phones (and maybe even a new Surface Pro) officially.

Here are the specs of the two flagship Lumias, courtesy of Windows Central:
