It’s that time of the year again when companies prepare for CES by dangling tantalizing goodies (that we can’t yet buy) in front of our noses. In the case of LG, this means an entire range of ultra-high resolution monitors and also the LG gram 15, an ultra-light 15.6-inch notebook.

According to LG, this is literally the lightest 15-inch laptop in the world. At just 980g, it is lighter than even the 11-inch MacBook Air, which weighs 1.08kg. Yes, this full-bodied 15-inch notebook is actually lighter than an 11-inch ultrabook from Apple.

To make it even more portable, LG has fitted its 15.6-inch display in a body that is barely larger than a conventional 14-inch laptop. This would mean a rather thin bezel, and judging from the teaser image above, that is indeed the case. And despite its light weight, LG says that the laptop has been designed to be durable, making it a good fit for busy students and office professionals with busy schedules.

The LG gram 15 will feature sixth-generation Intel Core processors – LG didn’t specify which –and ship with Windows 10. Alas, we’ll probably have to wait till CES next year to find out more.
