Uber has plans to integrate autonomous technology into its shared mobility devices
According to TechCrunch, Uber is planning to integrate autonomous technology into its shared devices mobility initiatives that include bicycles and electric scooters. This was revealed by 3D Robotics CEO Chris Anderson, who said that Uber announced its intentions at a DIY Robotics event.
In the United States, Uber acquired Jump, a bike-sharing startup, in April last year. The alleged intentions of Uber will be parked under Uber’s Jump group, more specifically, Uber Micromobility Robotics division.
One of the main advantages of autonomous shared mobility devices is the ability to drive themselves to their intended locations, be it a charging point, the location of a customer or a designated parking spot. This could potential alleviate the issue of indiscriminate parking of those shared mobility devices, which is the bane of urban city planners.
