Could Elon Musk step down as CEO of Twitter?

Musk earlier asked Twitter users if he should remain as the head of Twitter. He also said that he "will abide by the results" of the poll.

Unfortunately for him, over 17.5 million users voted and the result was an overwhelming "no." Only 42.5% of voters wanted Musk to stay on while an overwhelming majority of 57.5% thought that he should step down.

Musk obviously doesn't have to abide by the poll even if he said he would. After all, this man previously said that he wouldn't suspend a Twitter account that was tracking the location of his private jet and then proceeded to do just that by suspending said account.

He also said that he is all for free speech and then proceeded to suspend the accounts of journalists who were critical of him and Twitter.

After the votes closed, Musk didn't specifically comment on the results and left a cryptic tweet.

What happens next is anyone's guess. And at the time of writing, no successor has been announced.
