Twitter is suspending the accounts of several journalists who are critical of it

According to reports, Twitter has suspended the accounts of several prominent journalists.

This includes Ryan Mac of The New York Times, Donie O'Sullivan of CNN, Drew Harwell of The Washington Post, and potentially more. A list is currently being compiled by Ben Collins of NBC.

It is unclear at this point why their accounts are being suspended but there's a common thread here. These journalists largely cover technology and have recently written stories critical of Twitter and its new owner Elon Musk.

Kate Conger of The New York Times speculates that these suspensions are related to recent stories on the ElonJet situation.

For those who are not keeping up with this story, Twitter recently suspended the account that tracked the location of Musk's private jet.

Now, normally, this isn't really something noteworthy. But what's glaring here is that Musk, before the suspension, vowed earlier that he would leave the account up as part of his commitment to free speech.

Musk has banged on about free speech since he acquired Twitter, and, to no one's surprise, it seems that free speech is fine until someone starts talking about and criticising him.
