With this acquisition, Turtle Beach plans to expand into the PC gaming market segment by adding Roccat’s extensive product line-up to its own offerings. The San Diego-based company believes Roccat gaming headsets will allow them to accelerate their expansion into the PC gaming headset market that is estimated to be worth US$1.6 billion.

In the same breath, their combined product portfolio will cover a wide selection of other market segments that include PC gaming keyboard and mice as well as headsets for gaming consoles. There are also mutual benefits; Turtle Beach can leverage on Roccat’s foothold in Asia to gain new distribution while Roccat will benefit from Turtle Beach’s “strong sales and distribution in North America and across Europe….”

“This is a dynamic and strategically important deal for Turtle Beach,” said Juergen Stark, CEO of Turtle Beach. “We are adding a complementary portfolio of PC gaming mice and keyboards, a skilled PC accessories team, and a highly synergistic distribution footprint.

Fans of Roccat can breathe sigh of relief as it appears Turtle Beach is keeping the already established Roccat brand name. The acquisition price point consists of US$14.8 million in cash, US$1 million in cash or stock (company option), and up to approximately US$3.4 million in earnout payments.
