Trade war with U.S did not stop Huawei from shipping more phones in 1H 2019
The U.S-China trade war did not put a dent in Huawei's business in the first half of the year.
Huawei's business results for the first half of 2019 show an increase of 23.2% in revenue over the same period last year. Its consumer business grew stronger with sales revenue of 220.8 million yuan, which is mainly contributed by smartphone shipments of 118 million units. This is up 24% year-over-year, which is impressive considering that major U.S tech companies cut their supplies to Huawei following the Trump administration's export ban.
The company added that it saw rapid growth in the shipments of tablets, PCs and wearables in the same period. It is also starting to scale the device ecosystem to deliver a more intelligent experience. The Huawei Mobile Services ecosystem currently has more than 800,000 registered developers and 500 million users worldwide.
Despite security fears over its network equipment, sales revenue for its carrier business hit 146.5 billion yuan with steady growth in production and shipment of equipment for wireless networks, optical transmission, data communications, IT and related product domains. Huawei also managed to seal 50 commercial 5G deals and has shipped more than 150,000 base stations to markets around the world.
