For the financially conscious and savvy, a car has to be affordable, frugal to run, and practical. And on paper at least, the new Toyota Sienta Hybrid seems to tick all of those boxes.

What's notable also is that this is the first time in Singapore that the Sienta is available through an official dealer. Furthermore, the Sienta Hybrid is a bit of a unicorn because it is also the only Cat A hybrid seven-seater MVP available through an official dealer.

As the headline clearly states, the claimed efficiency on the combined cycle is 4L/100km or 25km/l, which is quite remarkable for a car that's capable of seating seven.

Making this possible is a 1.5-litre 3-cylinder engine that's paired with an electric motor to produce 114hp and 141nm of torque. The transmission is a CVT. Toyota claims this new drivetrain is up to 50%more fuel efficient than its predecessor.

The design is a nice mix of familiar and chic. Toyota calls it "Shikakumaru" which means it was designed to have rounded corners so that the car looks more compact.

Inside, one major improvement is an increase of cabin height by 20mm, which means more headroom and knee space. There are also thoughtfully positioned USB-C charging ports around the interior.

Drivers can look forward to a new 7-inch digital instrument cluster and a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come as standard.

Loads of safety features come as standard such as pre-collision detection, emergency steering assist, lane assist, road sign assist, and adaptive cruise control.
