Casio has just released a list showing its three most popular G-Shock models. This takes into account all models shipping across the world.

This list also takes into account variants of the same model. For example, the DW-6900MR and DW6900BB-1 are all attributed to the DW-6900. However, the very similar DW-6935 is considered a separate model.

The G-Shock line of watches was introduced in 1983 and was designed by Casio engineer Kikuo Ibe who wanted a watch that would be unbreakable.

The inspiration for this came when his watch, which was gifted to him by his father, broke when Ibe accidentally dropped it. After the incident, he sought to create a watch that would be tough and indestructible.

Surprisingly, the most popular G-Shock is one of the newer ones, specifically the GA-110 that you see in the photo at the beginning.

The GA-110 is a digital-analog watch that was introduced in 2010. It has a host of features including world time, 1/1000-second chronograph, countdown timer, and alarm. It also comes in countless variants.

In second place is GA-100, also a relatively new model released in 2010. And third place is the DW-6900, which was released in 1995, making it one of Casio's oldest running G-Shock models. Sadly, no square G-Shocks made the list.
