Thermaltake put more RGB LEDs into a new line of affordable power supplies

Thermaltake Smart BX1 RGB

Thermaltake has announced two new series of value-oriented power supplies. The Smart BX1 RGB and Smart BX1 have an 80 Plus Bronze efficiency and are available in capacities up to 750W, so they should be good enough for the vast majority of systems out there.

The Smart BX1 RGB power supplies come outfitted with an RGB fan and 10 LEDs. There are a total of three lighting modes and seven color options, in addition to the ability to turn to LEDs off completely, so you should be able to find something to suit your general preferences.

The adjustments are pretty straightforward as well, and you can toggle through different colors using a dedicated button on the PSU itself.

In addition, there’s onboard memory so the power supply will remember your last setting even after you shut down your PC.

Both the Smart BX1 RGB and Smart BX1 units come with 120mm hydraulic bearing fans that are quieter and longer lasting than their sleeve bearing counterparts. They can also intelligently vary their speeds according to the situation, depending on whether cooling performance or silence is prioritized.

The power supplies use Japanese capacitors as well, according to Thermaltake. More importantly, the company says the new units were designed to deliver a stable and continuous power output. The +12V rail has a maximum ripple of 80mV, while the +5V and +3.3V rails come in at 40mV from zero to 100 per cent load.

The Smart BX1 RGB is available in 550W, 650W, and 750W capacities, while the Smart BX1 has an additional option in the form of a 450W unit. Both also come in two different input voltage settings, including 100-240V and 230V.

However, given that these are more budget-oriented units, they use a non-modular design and don't come with braided cables.

The Smart BX1 RGB PSUs are available to buy now from Thermaltake’s authorized retailers and distributors. The Smart BX1 series will be available later in November. Both are also backed by 5-year warranties.
