The next Apple iPad Pro may not come with a glass back design

Apple's plans to include a glass back for the next iPad Pro may be dropped.

According to 9to5Mac's sources, Apple is uncertain about using glass on the rear of the iPad as it can be easily scratched or shattered which makes the device more fragile. If the company opts for aluminum on the back, it will have compatibility issues with MagSafe charger.

9to5Mac says there are iPad Pro prototypes with a bigger Apple logo that is made of glass and stronger magnets. This would allow power to be transmitted through the glass logo and enable faster charging. Other rumoured specs include a bigger battery capacity, a camera module similar to the iPhone 13, and a new processor.

Bloomberg reported in June last year that Apple is testing an iPad Pro prototype with a glass back, which led to speculation that wireless charging is coming to the tablet. The company is also reportedly exploring the MagSafe system and reverse wireless charging on the device.
