At IFA 2022 in berlin, TCL has pulled the curtains back on the 98C735 and 75C735, a 98-inch and 75-inch mini-LED QLED TV from its new XL collection.

The TCL C735 series features Quantum Dot colour technology with localised zones for contrast management that will highlight the differences between the bright and dark areas of the image. TCL's AiPQ Engine and support for Dolby Vision IQ, Dolby Vision, HLG, HDR10, and HDR10+ optimise colour, contrast, and clarity for that 4K HDR experience.

The smart TVs have two 15W speakers and a 20W subwoofer along with Dolby Atmos and Dolby Digital, plus support for Audio Passthrough. This means you can connect multiple devices to your TV and pass high-quality audio signals to a receiver, making it easier to use features the TV may support like HDMI 2.1 and variable refresh rate (VRR) that your receiver might not.

Love games? Like most smart TVs these days, TCL has a Game Studio Pro mode. The company says their Game Studio Pro delivers cinema-quality graphics, powerful audio, smooth play, and near-instant responses. The 98C735 supports VRR from 48Hz to 120 Hz.

Google TV and Chromecast come pre-installed, so entertainment is already there. And with Google TV you can use the Google TV app or your voice to easily control the 98C735.

Some of the connectivity options of the 98C735 include Wi-Fi 6, LAN, 2 x USB 2.0, SPDIF Digital Audio Optical, and 4 HDMI (2 ports with HDMI support up to 4K/120Hz, 1 port with eARC).

Pricing and availability

We reached out TCL as to when these would arrive in Singapore and what they would cost but they would only say that it would be “hopefully next year”. As to the price, the 98C735 is currently on sale in the United States for US$8499.99.
