Tag Heuer steps up production of the Connected Watch to meet demand

Tag Heuer's first smartwatch, the Connected Watch, is off to a good start as supply currently cannot catch up with the demand.

According to Bloomberg, Tag Heuer will aim to make 2,000 pieces per week, up from 1,200 to meet the demand from retailers, agents and subsidiaries. Apparently, these retail channels requested for 100,000 timepieces. Online sales are also suspended until May or June 2016 so that stocks can be released to the physical stores.

In addition, Tag Heuer is considering to expand the Connected Watch collection at the end of next year or early 2017 with different varieties, executions and materials. Two of the possible options include gold and diamond. If and when Tag Heuer expands this collection, it could pose a potential threat to the Apple Watch.
