Strong sales of HTC U11 helped to lift company's revenues last month

HTC's latest flagship smartphone, the U11 is helping the company rebound after many quarters of revenue loss.

DigiTimes reports that HTC's revenues for June 2017 increased to NT$6.89 billion (US$255.2 million) thanks to "brisk sales of the HTC U11 series smartphones". This translates to an increase of 8.38% from May and a whopping 52.1% increase from the previous year.

Although revenues for the first half of the year dropped 8.4% from a year earlier to NT$30.67 billion, the coming months would be better as sales of the U11 smartphone gain momentum with HTC increasing the inventory levels at channels to meet seasonal demand and bringing the phone to more markets.

In addition, HTC is believed to be the manufacturer of the second generation Google Pixel smartphones and the launch in Q4 might benefit its mobile business. The company is also going into VR with its launch of its first mobile VR headset in Q4.
