StarHub and ASUS have combined to announce a new fiber plan that's been designed for gamers.

It's called the Turbo Gamer 2Gbps that aims to offer gamers the best blend of performance and value.

A brand new and exclusive gaming router

Not only will subscribers be able to enjoy super-fast 2Gbps Internet access, but they will also be getting ASUS' new ROG Rapture GT-AC2900 - free of charge.

The ROG Rapture GT-AC2900 is an AC2900-class dual-band router that delivers data transfer rates of up to 750Mbps on its 2.4GHz network and 2,167Mbps on its 5GHz network.

On top of that, it is one of a handful of routers that supports DFS (dynamic frequency selection), so you'll be able to use 5GHz Wi-Fi channels that are typically out of bounds and reserved for government services.

It also has a slew of gamer-centric features that improve your gameplay by prioritising gaming traffic.

More about the StarHub Turbo Gamer 2Gbps plan

Like its namesake, the new StarHub Turbo Gamer 2Gbps plan is similar to StarHub's existing 2Gbps Fibre Broadband plan in that the 2Gbps WAN pipeline is split into dual 1Gbps connections at the optical network terminal (ONT) router (like this diagram).

Even the pricing is similar; the StarHub Turbo Gamer 2Gbps costs S$62.90 per month and will be ready for sign-ups starting from 3rd August at StarHub shops and online at www.starhub.com/turbo-gamer.

However, unlike the standard 2Gbps plan that bundles a twin-pack Google Wifi mesh, subscribers to the new Turbo Gamer 2Gbps plan will get the ROG Rapture GT-AC2900 for free. What's more, they will also enjoy two months of free subscription as part of the launch promotion.

The ROG Rapture GT-AC2900 can also be purchased separately for S$399 - but it is exclusive to StarHub broadband customers who would like to upgrade their existing networking gear. How good is the router?
