StarHub has restructured its paid TV platform offerings by removing the outdated basic groups, streamlining over 50 existing StarHub TV bundles to only offer 7 new genre-based StarHub Entertainment passes. They are as follows:-

  • English Entertainment Pass (this contains all the news, education, entertainment channels, arguably the most important pass for most)
  • Movies Pass
  • Asian Entertainment Pass
  • Malay Entertainment Pass
  • Indian Entertainment Pass
  • Filipino Entertainment Pass
  • Sports Pass

Customers have the leeway to switch between the seven at any one time by using the My Account online portal. According to StarHub, a current StarHub English Entertainment Pass can just log onto the portal, and switch to the Movie Pass to catch HBO’s final season of Games of Thrones. There isn’t a limit to the number of switches; this simple process can be repeated as often as the customer desire! You're also not required to keep the initial Entertainment Pass you've subscribed as part of any contracts - as long as you've a single Entertainment Pass, regardless of what group it is, no early termination charges apply.

As for the freebies, all customers will receive the StarHub TV Go value-added service, without any additional charges. This move by StarHub underscores its recognition of customers’ needs to view their subscribed content on-demand, on the device of their choice. Best of all, all StarHub mobile customers can make use of StarHub TV Go without incurring any local data charges. You'll also be given a set-top box, without any rental charges.

The new pricing tier

The all-new StarHub Entertainment Pass is now available to subscribe in these three options:-

  • $29.90 per month for a 24-month contract
  • $39.90 per month for a 12-month contract
  • $49.90 per month for no contract

For all the above-stated subscription prices, you get a choice of a single Entertainment Pass (out of the seven options available), a set-top box, and the access to watch your subscribed channels on-the-go via StarHub Go. The pricing tier applies if you're a  StarHub Fibre Broadband customer, or simply add S$15/month for Fibre Link Access if you're not on StarHub's broadband. Also take note that a one-time installation charge of S$53.50 will apply should you sign-up for the no-contract option.

What if you would like to add more Entertainment Passes? Simply add S$17.90 for each additional Entertainment Pass. You can make the changes on your StarHub account portal online, or simply subscribe to your channel of your choice by pressing the blue button on your remote - which would the automatically subscribe you to the entire Entertainment Pass that the channel corresponds to. You will no longer have the flexibility of adding a singular channel.

From 1st April onwards (it’s not an April Fools’ joke), the first 5,000 sign-ups for the 24-month contract plan will get an additional pass for free (worth $429.60) for the entire contract period. This means that you can enjoy two Entertainment passes at the same time, without the need to switch passes at the My Account online portal.
