We’ve all seen the news. Reports of online identity theft, doxxing, cyber theft, unauthorised account access have made the news recently. OCBC customers lost close to S$14 million to phishing scams just a few weeks ago.

To combat this, StarHub and Chubb Insurance Singapore Limited are providing consumers and their households with a cyber protection policy called CyberCover.

You can think of it as an insurance policy for online issues.

CyberCover is designed to provide financial support for StarHub Mobile and Broadband customers who are affected by cyber-bullying, identity theft, unauthorised transactions, and undelivered or discrepancies in online purchases. If legal consultation, tech support, counselling for trauma, or support against online harassment is required, customers can submit a claim to cover the incurred expenses.

Some of the claims you can make.

Signing up via the StarHub app, CyberCover can be added to their monthly bill at S$9.99 a month for individuals or S$12.99 a month to cover all family members living under the same roof.

Johan Buse, Chief of Consumer Business Group at StarHub said:

Cybercrimes are on the rise, and as the cases strike closer to home, we want to give our customers peace of mind, knowing that StarHub will be there to help them get back on their feet during difficult times.

While StarHub is offering the service to individuals and households, they don’t offer the same service to businesses as there are providers offering similar services, like AIG CyberEdge and UOB BizCare.
