Spotify’s desktop app now lets you cast music to Chromecast

Eons after Spotify users asked for the ability to initiate Chromecast streams directly on their PCs, the function is now available in the Spotify desktop app version 1.1.38 (h/t 9to5Google).

From Spotify Rock Star (i.e., Spotify experts in the community) Matt Suda:

You can now find Chromecast in the connect “devices available” menu in the Spotify desktop app and browser web player. Now you can cast your music to Chromecast from the desktop app without having to use the iOS or Android app.

To be clear, you can all along start a Chromecast stream from the Android and iOS apps, but this feature on desktop somehow isn’t a priority for the Spotify devs. But better late than never, no?
