Spotify just announced a price hike for its plans. 

Starting from today, a Spotify Premium Individual plan will be priced at S$10.98/month (an increase of S$1.08) while the Duo plan will cost S$14.98/month (a hike of S$2). 

For Family and Student plans, they are priced at S$17.98/month and S$5.98/month respectively. This is an increase of S$1 and S$0.99 for the respective plans! 

Spotify says the price adjustment is necessary for the company to "keep innovating" and "deliver value to fans and artists" on the music streaming service.

Other countries affected by the price hike include Andorra, Albania, Argentina, Austria, Australia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Belgium, Bulgaria, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cyprus, Denmark, Ecuador, Estonia, Spain, Finland, France, United Kingdom, Greece, Guatemala, Hong Kong, Croatia, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Iceland, Italy, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Latvia, Monaco, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Malta, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, New Zealand, Peru, Portugal, Serbia, Sweden, Slovenia, Slovakia, San Marino, Thailand, Türkiye, United States and Kosovo.

Spotify's move comes almost one year after Apple raised the subscription fees for its music streaming and video streaming services in Singapore. Apple attributed the price hike to the increase in licensing costs.
