Phones with ceramic backs are nothing new, but Samsung is said to be jumping on the bandwagon next year with the special edition Galaxy S10.

SamMobile reports that the special edition Galaxy S10 will have a ceramic back in black and white colors. This premium feature is said to debut alongside a massive 6.7-inch display, 6 cameras and 5G connectivity.

In case you don't know, ceramic is well-known for its scratch resistance. The Mohs scale of mineral hardness, which characterizes scratch resistance of minerals through the ability of harder material to scratch softer materials, places ceramic slightly lower than diamond and sapphire. This means that almost no other mineral can scratch ceramic. In addition, ceramic offers a premium look and feel that cannot be replicated by plastic or metal.

Samsung is reportedly working on three other Galaxy S10 models. There should be an entry-level model with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and a flat display while the other models are more premium with curved displays and at least two rear cameras. They could also be offered in gradient color options.
