Sony's Xperia XZ2 Premium is launching on 11th August. Pre-orders start 26th July (pre-order promo details inside)

Sony's Xperia XZ2 Premium will finally be available for pre-order starting 26th July until 9th August. The phone will officially launch be in retail from 11th August

The XZ2 Premium has a 5.8-inch 16:9 display with a 4K, 3,840 x 2,160 pixels (~760ppi) resolution and Sony's first dual rear camera setup, which consist of the following:-

  • A 19-megapixel f/1.8, 25mm, 1/2.3-inch, 1.22µm RGB lens
  • A 12-megapixel f/1.6, 1/2.3-inch, 1.55µm monochrome lens

The focus for Sony here is low-light performance, and the XZ2 Premium's setup will be able to record videos at ISO 12,800 sensitivity, and photos at ISO 51,200 (although Huawei's P20 Pro has already bested that with a ridiculous ISO 102,400). The dual camera setup will also feature a Portrait Mode with simulated bokeh.

The XZ2 Premium also shares most of the features of the standard XZ2, including 4K HDR video recording, 960FPS slow-motion video recording at Full HD, stereo speakers and a Dynamic Vibration System that uses the same components found in Sony's DualShock 4 controller.

Like the XZ2, the XZ2 Premium is also powered by a Snapdragon 845 processor, but it now has more memory - 6GB RAM. Battery capacity is also slightly larger now at 3,540mAh.

Price, Availability, and Promotions

The phone will be available in two colors, Chrome Black, and Chrome Silver, at an SRP of S$1,198. It will be available at Sony Stores, Sony Centres, authorized Sony retail partners and online at Lazada.
