Sony's Playstation Network and Microsoft's Xbox Live services down

Sony's Playstation Network and Microsoft's Xbox Live services down

You can't even connect to the PSN Store as of this writing.

After the recent hacking fiasco at Sony, we bet Sony (and everybody else) thought that the days of the company being the target of hackers are over. Well, at least for this year. It seems like somebody out there disagrees. And this time, even Microsoft is not safe.

As of this moment, network services for both Sony's Playstation Network and Microsoft's Xbox Live service are down and inaccessible. Sony's PSN is down on all fronts, with the online store inaccessible and the multiplayer games offline on both Sony consoles and it's Playstation Vita portable. Microsoft's Xbox Live service is faring better, as their status update shows. Nearly everything's up and running on Microsoft's end, except the multiplayer components on the consoles. Signing in, browsing the respective stores on both services are also plagued with issues.

The only service unaffected by this recent attack seems to be the Nintendo Network, with zero issues across the board on the Wii, the Wii U and the 3DS.

The hacks are hitting Sony especially hard as the company is still reeling from the nightmare of the alleged North Korean hack of Sony Pictures. Its Playstation Network service has been the target of hackers repeatedly the past few months, with the most recent attack happening earlier this month

Lizard Squad, the group behind most of the recent attacks on Sony's Playstation Network, have again claimed responsibility for the hacks.

It's unknown when normal services will resume for both networks but we'll keep you updated once they're back online.
