Sony's High-end VPL-VW1100ES 4K Projector Now in Stores; Will Set You Back S$25,599
We first reported about Sony’s VPL-VW1100ES 4K home theater projector last October when the company wowed us with the VPL-VW500ES, another 4K projector that sits below the VW1100ES. If you’ve resisted the S$14,000 VW500ES because you’re waiting for its badder sibling, know that the VW1100ES is now in Singapore, and is priced at S$25,599. (Yes, that’s almost twice the price of the VW500ES.)
To recap, the SXRD-based VPL-VW1100ES supports the latest standards in home theater tech, like native 4K resolution (4,096 x 2,160) and HDMI 2.0, the latter of which enables 4K/60p content playback. Like the VPL-VW500ES, it has a ‘Mastered in 4K’ database that it will draw upon when upscaling Mastered for 4K Blu-ray titles, which are 1080p Blu-ray releases that are remastered from their 4K master sources at a higher bitrate. In theory, this allows Sony’s projectors to upscale supported 1080p content (both 2D and 3D) better than other brands’ projectors.
Other specs of the 2,000-lumen VPL-VW1100ES include a 1,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, support for full HD 3D movies, and a variety of installation options. It sports advanced features like dual triggers, a 2.1x motorized zoom, expanded lens shift, an RS232 interface, control over IP, as well as compatibility with leading home automation systems.
