Sony XZs pre-orders start tomorrow (1st April)

Unveiled at MWC 2017, the cheaper variant of Sony's new flagship Xperia XZ range, the 5.2-inch XZs will be available to pre-order from 1st to 14th April exclusively at Sony Stores and Sony Centres across Singapore in Ice Blue, Black and Warm Silver. The phone will be launched on 22nd April at a suggested retail price of S$898, and will be available at M1, Starhub and official Sony retail partners.

As part of the launch promotion, customers who pre-order the Xperia XZs will be able to receive a range of complimentary accessories for the handset:-

  • MDR-XB70BT Extra Bass Bluetooth In-ear Headphones (valued at S$149)
  • DK60 Micro USB Type-C charging dock (valued at S$58)
  • "Made for Xperia" clear crystal cover (valued at S$20.90)

With every purchase of the Xperia XZs, customers will also be entitled to a purchase-with purchase deal on the Xperia XZs tempered glass screen protector at S$14.50 (Usual price: S$29).

The 5.2-inch XZs has exactly the same 19-megapixel Motion Eye camera system that’s found in Sony's high-end XZ Premium flagship smartphone (which isn't expected until May). The Motion Eye camera has embedded fast memory inside it, which lets it capture super-slow motion footage of 960FPS at 720p resolution. That's four times slower than any existing smartphone (like the iPhone 7) and something many DSLRs and high-end cameras aren't capable of doing.

The additional memory in the camera lets the phone start buffering shots before you've even pressed the shutter button, so as soon as you do press the button, there won't be any lag; the camera will start recording the frame it was already taking at that exact moment. To help capture the shot, the rear camera uses the same triple-sensor system we first saw on the Xperia XZ: laser AF, an RGBC infrared sensor for adjusting white balance on the fly, and an updated ExmorRS image sensor.

The XZs has a full metal build, and a Full HD display. It is IP68 dust and water resistant and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor (yes, that's not a typo unfortunately).
