Sony Xperia XZ1, XZ1 Compact, & XA1 Plus available in Singapore from 7th October

The Sony Xperia XZ1 flagship smartphone is officially coming to Singapore, together with the Xperia XZ1 Compact and the Xperia XA1 Plus. This trio of Sony smartphones first debuted at IFA 2017 last month, and they join their premium flagship Xperia XZ Premium 4k HDR smartphone as Sony Mobile’s 2017 phone portfolio.

All three phones will officially retail on 7th October 2017 onwards.

Sony Xperia XZ1.

The flagship Sony Xperia XZ1 (64GB) will be available at S$898 in four colors – Moonlit Blue, Venus Pink, Warm Silver, and Classic Black. This phone is available at official Sony stores, Sony Centre, and telcos M1, Singtel, and StarHub, along with other authorized resellers.

Buying the Sony Xperia XZ1 comes with a free Krusell Bovik transparent phone cover worth S$25, and a complimentary Sony MicroSD card (32GB), while stocks last.

Using the Xperia XZ1 to get a 3D render of a head via the built-in 3D scanning technology.

The resulting render that can be used in AR or for 3D printing.

Sony has partnered with various 3D printing firms for producing 3D printed figurines - the details can be found in our earlier coverage (below).

The Sony Xperia XZ1 is an Android 8.0 (Oreo) OS phone with Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, 5.2-inch Full HD (1,920 x 1,080 pixels resolution) IPS display that supports HDR, and it comes with UFS 2.1 internal storage, a 3.5mm port, and a MicroSD slot. Besides Motion Eye and Predictive Capture for its rear camera, it packs proprietary 3D scanning technology that can record and create 3D renders of faces and food. These renders can be used as blueprints for 3D printing, and for animating augmented reality (AR) content.

Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact.

The compact-flagship Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact (32GB) will be available at S$668 in two colors – White Silver, and Black. This phone is only available through official Sony stores and Sony Centre.

This phone is the compact version of its flagship product, sporting a smaller 4.6-inch HD (1,280 x 720 pixels resolution) display. It has the same processor and same camera with identical features and functionalities. In essence, the XZ1 Compact is designed to offer top-end mobile experience in a form factor suited for one-hand use.

Sony Xperia XA1 Plus.

The ‘super’ mid-range Sony Xperia XA1 Plus (32GB) with 5.5-inch display will be available at S$498 in four striking colors – Gold, Blue, Pink, and Black. The color availability varies across different retailers; they can be found at official Sony stores, Sony Centre, telcos M1, Singtel, and StarHub, and authorized retail partners.

Buying the Sony Xperia XA1 Plus comes with a free Krusell Bovik transparent phone cover worth S$25, while stocks last.


Pre-order bonuses for Xperia XZ1 & XZ1 Compact

As a special promotion, each phone will come with a unique pre-order bonus. The pre-order period starts today and ends on 6th October 2017 (just a little more than a week).

  • Folks who pre-order a Sony Xperia XZ1 phone will receive a plethora of complimentary accessories (worth S$211), which includes the Sony MDR-EX750AP in-ear headphones, a Quick Charge (UCH12W), and another sleek clear crystal cover.
