Sony has just dropped a new flagship phone and it's called the Xperia 1 V. As you'd expect from Sony, this phone features cutting-edge specs and, crucially, a wicked camera system.

Let's start with some basics. The screen is 6.5 inches large and uses an OLED panel with a fast 120Hz refresh rate and a resolution of 3,840 x 1,644 pixels.

Inside, it's powered by Qualcomm's newest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip with 12GB of memory and 256GB of storage. There's a microSD card slot that can increase storage by up to 1TB.

The highlight of this phone is its 52-megapixel main camera which uses Sony's new Exmor T sensor. Not only is it 1.7 times the size of its predecessor, but its stacked design also claims to double low-light sensitivity for better low-light photos. This main camera has a focal length of 24mm.

Alongside the main camera are a 16mm 12-megapixel ultrawide camera and an 85-125mm 12-megapixel telephoto camera. The front-facing camera is a 24mm 12-megapixel unit.

On the video side of things, the Xperia 1 V can shoot 4K videos at up to 120fps. It also features Sony's S-Cinetone colour profile that Sony says will give out-of-camera videos a "cinema-like look." Sony says it's so good that it will save content creators valuable time when post-editing.

Another feature worth mentioning is that it has a 3.5mm headphone jack – a rarity on flagship-class smartphones.

The Xperia 1 V comes with a 5,000mAh battery which Sony says can provide up to 20 hours of non-stop video playback. It supports fast charging of up to 30W and wireless charging too.
