Note: This article was first published on 6th September 2019. It's been updated to include pricing and availability information.

It’s been two years since the launch of the WI-1000X neckband-style, but Sony has now refreshed the model with the HD Noise Cancelling Processor QN1 we first saw in the WH-1000XM3.

This does 32-bit Audio Signal Processing and uses Sony’s Digital Sound Enhancement Engine HX (DSEE HX) to upscale compressed digital music files for a listening experience that’s close to High-Resolution Audio. The headphones also feature a HD Hybrid Driver System which includes a 9mm dynamic driver and a Balanced Armature driver. This gives you great sound whether it’s deep bass or high tones.

The WI-1000XM2 also gets the Atmospheric Pressure Optimising function that helps to further enhance its ability to cancel out cabin noise so you can continue to enjoy your music despite the difference in atmospheric pressures.

As you can see, the WI-1000XM2 neckband is extremely flexible.

In terms of contstruct, the WI-1000XM2 offers a better fit thanks to the flexible silicone neckband. It’s also now lighter at about 58g, so you’ll feel less weight over your head. The earbuds are again designed to fit deeply in the ear thanks to the angled earphone design, so you get all-day comfort. In terms of battery life, the WI-1000XM2 gives you a good 10 hours of battery life on a single charge. It also has Quick Charging capabilities so you get 80 minutes of play time from just 10 minutes of charge.

The WI-1000XM2 also get Adaptive Sound Control, which automatically changes the noise-cancelling settings based on your environment. Of course, as with most devices today, the headphones are also compatible with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa.

A look that everything that comes in the box.

The WI-1000XM2 comes with a premium fabric case which stores your audio cable, USB charging cable, and plug, and of course the headphone itself. The WI-1000XM2 will be available in selected countries in Asia Pacific from December 2019, but pricing hasn’t been announced yet.
