Sony Announces Walkman NWZ-ZX1 and Liner PCM Recorder PCM-D100
Sony Electronics has announced two personal audio products, the Walkman NWZ-ZX1 and Liner Pulse-code modulation (PCM) Recorder PCM-D100.
Walkman NWZ-ZX1
Sony's first music player to support Hi-Res Audio offers listeners up to seven times the audio quality of a CD, and has a 4-inch TRILUMINOS Display for mobile touchscreen for viewing of music files, photos, and videos on the device. Powering on the Android OS, the new Walkman is carved out of a single piece of aluminum and has a molded base at its rear that acts as an amp block, with a rubberized back grip for added comfort and stability. The ZX1 is also Sony's largest capacity Walkman to date, with a built-in memory of 128GB that is capable of storing High-Re Audio content equivalent to approximately 800 songs.
Linear PCM Recorder PCM-D100
Compatible with Direct Stream Digital (DSD) recording and playback equivalent to Super Audio CD (SACD), it records and reproduces high-quality sound. Featuring a 15mm directional mic unit, it comes with a highly-sensitive directional stereo microphone, allowing the sound collection range to be adjusted according to the audio being recorded. Possessing a newly-developed S/N 100dB mode that minimizes internal noise when performing conversions from analogue to digital, it has a built-in 32GB of flash memory, which is equivalent to a continuous recording of approximately 6 hours 35 minutes when recording in Linear PCM (192kHz/24-bit), or around around 10 hours 50 minutes in DSD (2.8MHz/1-bit).
