Sony Announces New Offerings Across Four VAIO Series

Sony announces a range of offerings across four series of notebooks, including the VAIO T, which marks Sony's debut entry into the Ultrabook market.

VAIO T

With Sony's "Rapid Wake + Eco" technology, faster USB charging, and longer battery life, the VAIO T series makes for the ideal mobile PC for people who are always on the move. The notebook incorporates the Intel Smart Response Technology, which utilizes a hybrid drive composed of a HDD and SSD, shortening boot time and reducing time required to load frequently used applications.

Also, the "xLOUD" and "Clear Phase" technologies are included to boost volume levels without distortion for impressive-sounding movies and games, while the built-in "Exmor for PC" HD webcam offers sharper video chats. Gesture Control lets you interact with your computer using intuitive hand movements, and is currently supported by Windows Media Player, Windows Internet Explorer 9, and Microsoft PowerPoint.

Replacing the Picture Motion Browser is the PlayMemories Home, which allows for import of pictures and videos from any camera or camcorder.

VAIO Z

Ideal for the mobile professional, the VAIO Z series puts the performance of a desktop PC in an ultra-portable package and adds more power. Measuring just 330mm by 210mm, the VAIO Z is 16.7mm thin and weighs barely more than 1kg, making it thinner and lighter than a standard Ultrabook.

Composed of premium grade carbon fibre in a hexa-shell design, the 13.1-inch notebook is equipped with an Intel Core i7 quad-core processor and AMD Radeon HD 7670M with 1GB VRAM, as well as a high-speed RAID 0 SSD, and "Rapid Wake + Eco" technology.

VAIO E

The VAIO E Series 11 and 15 are set to make the final additions to the VAIO E series, with Intel Core Ivy Bridge i5/i7 processors and AMD Radeon GPUs. The VAIO E Series 11 and 15 feature displays of 11.6-inch and 15.5-inch respectively, and comes with Gesture Control, PlayMemories Home, and "xLOUD" and "Clear Phase" technologies which boost volume levels without distortion.

VAIO S

Equipped with numeric keys, the VAIO S is available in both 13.1-inch or 15.5-inch full sized LCD. Powered by the Intel Core Ivy Bridge i7 processor, the notebook includes the Dynamic Hybrid Graphics System with NVIDIA Optimus Technology which switches seamlessly between NVIDIA GeForce GT 640M LE or the integrated Intel HD Graphics 4000 depending on the performance the application being run requires.

With a hexa-shell edge design, it weighs 1.59kg and measures a slim 22.8mm. Other features include "xLOUD" and "Clear Phase" technologies, Dolby Home Theatre V4, built-in "Exmor for PC" HD webcam, Gesture Control, and PlayMemories Home.
